Dhaba Estd 1986, is an established brand and they identify themselves to be a new gen dhaba (which is right, and they keep up with their words). They recently opened in Banjara Hills and to celebrate the Hyderabad winter; they are running “Big Fat Punjabi Winter Menu.” The menu is filled with some interesting choices which you don’t see on their impressive menu card. As always, I was excited to try out their lip-smacking dishes.
Their signature Tandoori Bhune Aloo was the first one to arrive at our table, and indeed it was tasty. After that, it was the Dhaba Paneer Tikka which was soft and was jam-packed with some splendid flavors. The Saag Ki Tikki did take me by surprise and it was delectable. The galouti kebab along with Kaleji Gurda Taka Tak had exciting twists with an amalgamation of different flavors. The Amritsari Khukaad which is a full chicken cooked to perfection inside a traditional iron box was served piping hot while the Latpati Murgh Tangdi was an absolute killer.
Dhaba is known for their Balti Meat and my favorite too. But honestly, I had mixed reaction to this as the meat was a bit chewy and the bold flavors couldn’t come through and exploit our taste buds. Though Dilli Ki Nihari was nothing like it’s Hyderabadi sister still the lamb trotters were flavorful.
We wrapped up our session with an array of dessert from Gulab Jamun, Badam ka Halwa, Gajar ka Halwa to their signature Kulfi. We also had the winter special “Aloo Anaras Halwa” (Potato – pineapple halwa) which was a perfect end to our lovely lunch.
